    windowsXP home-missing file

    adding new external USB HD- message of missing file hidusb.sys- I do not have a CD as it came preinstalled on the laptop.Any suggestions?

    Using Windows Explorer, look in the \windows\system32\drivers folder and make sure that the hidusb.sys file exists


    If the file is missing, copy it from another computer (be sure to put it in the \windows\system32\drivers folder). Reboot, then remove and reinstall the drivers.
