Creative Audio PCI ESi 1371, ESI 1373 WPD
Dell Dimensions 4100 Creative Audio PCI ESi 1371, ESI 1373 WPD driver version 5.1.2535.0
No sound after ME to XPPro upgrade The "Dell upgrade advisor" said I could upgrade but Sound blaster seems to be a problem. NO DVD or CD sound through speakers.
All troubleshooting systems say the sound board is working fine. *No error messages.* XP finds the audio board!
From reading other posts I gather that the system had originally Soundblaster 128 on it but the XP native drivers are the ES 1371, etc.
My machine is Intel 133 MHZ io Bus
933MHZ Intel P3
After I downloaded the patch from Creative, it said I didn't need it...
What is puzzling is that all troubleshooting says systems AOK.
Yes, volume is on/not muted;yes, speakers are plugged in...
help?

Driver support for most SoundBlaster cards in XP stinks. Creative would much rather sell you a new sound card than support older hardware. Easy way out is just to get a new sound card. Decent ones can be had for something like $10 (better cards than you have now) so it is a pretty much a waste of time to wrestle the old one.
