ZA is infinitely better than MS firewall.
Would be useful to know what the BSOD actually said... and did you uninstall the ZA firewall correctly before doing a clean install? Many ZA problems are because of underlying undetected trojans or other malware which attempt to undermine ZA and in the process end up screwing it up altogether.

Gave it another shot
Win XP
Tried 6.1.737.000
Downloaded the Upgrade.
Decided to download the full, but on save_as, it was the same, so didn't overwrite.
Shutdown ZA
Uninstalled using their uninstaller
Reboot
Install.
Not sure when it gave Blue Screen (not sure it it tried to do a re-boot - but don't think so?).
It went away in 5 secs - Tons of writing on the full page.
Went out to ZA forum - looks like prior version lucky ZA upgraders are getting Blue Screened - looks like the latest version is no different.
I don't know about Trojans, but I do know I don't remember ever having a clean upgrade from ZA since Win 98 (maybe I did once??).

I just updated 2 days ago (but I use the Pro version) and no problems whatsoever, infact it was rather easy to update, and it kept all my settings.

ZoneAlarm will not upgrade - blue screen
I had suspected the "Pro" version would upgrade just fine.
I think the time(s) it upgraded fine for me was before the company was taken over by another.
Anyone have any ideas on what could be going wrong - if there is a known bug/conflict for the release I mentioned above?

Thanks - I would hope it would install somewhere - I'm sure they had it installing/upgrading on a test or 2 that they did before releasing it for my pleasure~~~

Tried again - No luck, but Addl info
I checked around - noticed some good looking info from Ferrit, DonJ and Noo Noo.
Switched off all security progs I could find that were active (not sure if NAV was switched off or not? - I disabled it, but unsure if that means the exe is off or not)
Tried again.
Blue Screen - it rebooted and looked like it might be firing up the ZA, but then Blue Screen to death.
On the Blue Screen of much written death it had:
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
and a bunch of other stuff that you can't read in 5 seconds.
That's the latest

Well, the modified Purple frown emoticon didn't show up on the main board, so I'll send this message (so It'll take the 1st messages new purple frown). At least this might work!
Bummer, it didn't work either. I suppose the main message board must have a file of Icons, and the modified ones on the posts are different files or something...(at least don't update the main message board one).

Fixed (I think)
I think I've fixed it.
Conflict with another program (will contact the vendor).
I think the link below gives some useful tips for a number of ZoneAlarm problems.
