    Unhappy Problems with KX-P3696

    Hi there:
    I have a KX-P3696 dot matrix printer with a computer with Mobo MSI MS-6309 LE2, P-II 700MHz 128MB 20GB.
Whe i try to print with Excel and Word, only prints the first half of the job, and nothing more.
The configuration of the parallel port is normal.
The drivers were found in Panasonic web page.
    Please help.

    Thanxs.

I take it you got your drivers from <a href="http://www.panasonic.com/support/software/print_dot/3696.htm" target="_blank">here</a>? It only lists drivers for Win3.x and Win95. You will notice that it lists DOS Emulation as Epson FX-1170 or IBM Proprinter IIIXL. You didn't mention which version of Windows you're using. The Win95 driver should work fine in Win98 also. However, if your running Win2000 or NT or XP, those drivers probably won't work for you. You might try using the drivers from the alternate models listed above. Also, make sure that this printer is selected as the Default printer in the applications that you're trying to print from.
Go here to <a href="http://www.panasonic.com/support/directory/email_us.html" target="_blank">contact Customer Support</a>. Notice the links there for Manuals, Call Us, etc.
Let us know how it goes...Good Luck!

    Thanks.
The drivers i have are from Panasonic webpage.
I have Win98 OS, and i work with Word and Excel 97.
The problem is when i try to print a complete page with information, the printer only prints the half of the information, and nothing more than this. This is a bad situation.
I test the printer in another old computer, and no problem. I'm thinking to buy an ISA parallel port card and eliminate the internal parallel port. Perhaps all the problem is due to the speed of the Mobo port.
First, i will try to install the Epson FX-1170 and IBM ProPrinter IIIXL drivers.
I hope that this idea works.
    Thanks again.

I don't think the problem is with the speed of the parallel port. This is an old printer and it looks like your system specs shouldn't be a problem. Since you say it works fine on another computer, I would be more inclined to go with the applications trying to print from...Office97 might need to be reloaded. Also, there are at least three patches out for Office97...make sure you have those installed. To confirm the problem with Office97 only, you might try printing from another application such as Notepad or print out your emails or printout a copy of a webpage via Internet Explorer or Netscape. Do they print out completely or still having problems? One more thing, make sure this printer is hooked up directly to the parallel port...not going through a scanner or switch box, etc. Just a couple of suggestions...Good Luck!

    Problem after installing kx-p3696 driver

Hi, after installing the driver for KX-P3696 on the PC Windows XP I found out that my Microsoft Word (Work Suite) does not work very well (i.e when I type something the wording got cramped together). But if I switch to my older printer KX-P1151 the Word work well.

I got the driver from the Panasonic website..

Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance...

I think you need to replace the print head.
