another video card problem???

thanks in advanced for any help - this is driving me insane!!!

ok, first off i have recently upgraded my computer (mainly for gaming) I changed mobo, got a 6600GT, and 1024 DDR400 Ram

basically the problem is that my computer slows down from a silky 60fps to like 3fps when playing games. The weird thing is that it usually takes 30 or 40 minutes for this to happen...

I've tried everything within my knowledge to fix this - windows update, vid drivers, virus scan etc. at first i thought it could be a heat problem causing thermal throttle on me P4, however the temperatures seem very reasonable...

pleeeeeez help...

Does this happen in more games than one?
Did you check the temperature of other components like Hard Disk, Video Card (a good cause for heat)?
How well is your case's airflow? Have you checked for dust and any fan that isnt working?

firstly the problem occurs in all games BF1942, BF2 (demo), Far Cry, Half-Life 2, CS:S - to name a few...
there was quite a bit of dust in the case but iv given that a clean out, I dont think its a temperature problem because buthins been overclocked, video card runs at 55-60 celcius wen playin games and 38 idle temp. CPU is running at 40-45 in games and 19 idle temp. I havnt checked the HD though

, how do u do that? jst 1 thing though i was a lil unsure when reinstalling windows, it asked if i wanted to save over the existing partion and i clicked yes, it then said running 2 operating systems on the same computer is unsatisfactory...(confused) - i dont think that would be causing the problem though.
what about my PSU though its jst a 300W one that came with the case, could that be the cause?

You seem to have installed XP a second time on the partition, and that isnt a good thing.
Format that 1st partition and keep just 1 installation of XP, be sure to have all the drivers at hand, motherboard, vga, sound, etc.

How's the airflow in the case? Does it have any fans whatsoever?

A cheap/generic PSU can always cause problems, but no way to be 100% sure without switching it with another one and testing.
