    Post XP supported scanner

Anyone have any suggestions on a scanner. The old Mustek SCSI scanner I had used up through win98se no longer works in windows XP (not sure if it's just broken or incompatible. I haven't bothered to test it on another computer) I'm more than tenative to purchase one because I'm affraid it won't work with XP. Anyone have scanners working with XP. My dad's birthday is coming up and we (my fiance and I) are hoping to make him a picture CD with pictures of his dogs. We have some great 35mm shots we'd like to scan. So I can't avoid getting one any longer.

Look in the XP hardware compatability list.

There's a list on the MS site.

Most models of <a href="http://www.microtekusa.com/index.html" target="_blank">Microtek</a> scanners are XP compatible. Even some fairly old ones. I have used the 3600 and 3700's with XP without problems.

thanks! that's the kind of info I was hoping for. It just so happens that best buy has a couple microtek models in my price range (under $100) may have to look into that.

I do tech support for HP scanners and not all of ours yet have the software to make them xp compatible. What we have our customers do run the the scanner on WIA drivers. I am not sure if it will work with this scanner but you can try. First of all if you have installed the old software you will need to uninstall it. Then you will need to connect your scanner back up to the computer. Then go to START, ALL PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, and SCANNER AND CAMERA WIZARD. Then place something in your scanner and click NEXT. Then select the kind of picture or document you are scanning and click NEXT again. From there if you want to print out the image click on I AM FINISHED or whatever it says. And then on the next page click on the link. Then go to FILE and click on PRINT. If you have anymore questions just ask.

Also if you are still looking for an XP compatible scanner for under a 100 dollars...HP makes one called the 2200c. They go for as little as 60 dollars in some stores. Also try HP shopping.
