HP 697 Printer Driver Network question

I was informed after purchasing an HP-697C Printer that it would not work in my Win95 peer to peer network. I then heard that possibly an older driver might work for me, any ideas which one and how I could get this otherwise decent printer working on my network. (thank you)

I had problems getting a deskjet 1000c to work on a Win95/LANtastic network. The solution that we found on Artisoft's support pages worked great. They said that when you do a normal installation of the printer software with the obnoxious HP status monitor and everything on the print server, it can cause problems. Their solution was to create a generic/text-only printer on the print server and share it on the network. Then go ahead and install the HP software on all of the workstations and point them to the generic printer.

I know its a different printer and network than yours, but maybe the same solution will work.

Good luck,

Steve
