What are you using to qualify the time, if it's the game's lobby it's likely that's your problem, what game is it and what hardware spec are you enjoying.

This ping test you're running, part of the function of the game? And what are you pinging exactly?

No, the game doesn't have a ping test. It shows the ping. Could someone just give me a few point outs on what to do to try to stop this?

Try your computer on a different internet connection somewhere. Maybe your connection is lagging.
Run some test at dslreports.com and see what kind of speeds you're getting.

Well, it could be any number of different things, its really hard to say since your posts provide no details at all as to what game you're referring to, if you're using a computer or console system, what networking equipment you have, who your current ISP is, etc......
I wouldn't go running out and sign up for a new ISP before testing a lot of other things first. I was simply suggesting trying your computer or console or whatever you're using on somebody else's internet connection as a test if you have anybody who would allow you.
Good luck!

It's completely possible that it's a server side problem. Especially when a game becomes popular.

It was already in one of your replies.
Just saying, don't be so quick to blame it on your ISP until you tested it as 3fingersalute indicated. You might be changing your ISP when the problem is not yours to begin with.
Definitely test via dslreports.com and than at least ping yahoo.com with a load to see the response. Who is serving your DNS? Your ISP?
