sound card noises
when i try to use my sound recorder the micropphone triggers this awful series of repeating howls and squealing noises its like nothing i have ever heard except maybe the sound of the emergency broadcast system whats wrong with my computer i need to be able to record and all it picks up is that crazy noise

Sounds like it could be feedback from the MIC. In your sound recorder properties see if you can turn the gain down. This also happens sometimes if the mic is near speakers.

Yip I can tell you that is feedback, set the mike away from your speakers and turn the gain down in your soundcard software
Feedback is a soundmans worst eneemy, Just ask me I used to run a soundboard

speaker noises
the microphone is unplugged now but ever since i tried to use the sound recorder on xp home edition the speakers continue to emit a series of high pitched noises its hard for me to describe them but its as though you were hearing high pitched whale calls repeating again and again with intermittant breaks in the series so no microphone still have noise Its literally driving me nuts I am about ready to throw my computer off the deck and watch it shatter please god somebody make it stop if i play anything else it continues in the backround

sound card
Click your volume icon and open the audio controls. click on properties. check on playback and record. make sure the microphone box is not checked on playback, and is checked on record.
