XP & Windows Updates
Hi All
Am trying to allow a normal user on XP Pro Sp2 to install windows updates automatically, but can only get it to work for admins. Machine is not on a domain. Settings are set to automatically download and install. I can do it as admin, but not as user.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

AFAIK, if the user is someone with admin rights, there should be no problemo.

There is no problem for admins, but I don't want the user to be an admin.

Can't be done without administrative privileges unless the user is connected to a Windows Server Domain with either MS Software Update Service or Windows Update Service running. Group policy will let an administrator push updates to the workstations. On a single computer Windows update requires administrative rights.
