    Here's a new one ~ a blank BSOD

    Hey everyone,

recently, while playing World of Warcraft, I have been getting a wonderfully blank BSOD without the usual information contained therein. Now, normally I'm fairly handy with solving BSOD problems, but the lack of info on this one has been giving me a run for my money. It appears to happen at random while the game is being played. I am going to try other games to see what happens. I've searched this forum and others to see if anyone has had a similar experience (and hopefully a solution) but I haven't been able to locate anything that sounds like this. If anyone out there has any ideas, I'd be grateful for the help :-)

My current system is a Dell 8300, with an ATI Radeon 9800 pro card. Drivers are all up to date ( I try to run a tight ship)

Welcome to Windrivers Mattropolis. A blank bsod is new to me too! About the only way to track this down is to disable/remove hardware one at a time until it stops doing it. Examine the device manager for irq sharing. Start with those that share with a network or sound or video card.

Do you have a warranty with Dell?

Thanks for the reply! I'll disable the hardware one by one to see if it has an effect. I used something called drivercleaner, which gets into the driver.cab file and cleans out any reminants of old driver version. I recently updated a bunch of drivers for my video and sound cards, so hopefully all this will yeild me a solution. My warranty with Dell is still active, so if it comes down to it, I'll get them to deal with it, although I would hope not. Thanks for your help.

This is why I hate automated tools for cleaning registries and drivers... you don't know what they actually changed...
