gone bad??
Hi.
I have a laser printer that is printing 3 horizontal lines across the page that is printed. Does this mean the drum is bad?
can this be fixed or replaced to correct it?
thanks for any help with this.

Bill,
Try this. Take a page from your printer that clearly exibits the problem and match the top line on the page with the next line on the page. What you are trying to do is find out what the Circumference of the roller is, once you do that you should have a fairly good idea if it is one of the the fuser rollers, the drum or the transfer roller. The only two items that are close to the same size (depending on your printer) should be the drum and the Upper Fuser Roller. Another way to check your drum unit is to simply take the cartridge out and carefuly turn the drum (BY ITS GEAR) by hand. Drums are very sensitive to the oils on your skin so be careful not to touch the surface of the drum. Then check to see if the line shows up on the drum surface. Good luck!
