dvd/cdrw not working
I own a toshiba satellite a105-s2001 and my cd drive is not working. when i put in a cd it does nothing, but there is an error message " missing code 39" that comes up. Ive tried to uninstall the drive and then reinstall, didnt work. I also tried to update the drive, didnt work, I even wqent back to a previous restore point to see if that would correct the problem, didnt work. Can someone please help me.

I keep getting something about the removal of the easy cd creator program, but the program was never on my laptop.

There may be other third-party CD-writing software products that exhibit similar behavior. Some or all of the troubleshooting steps in this article might apply if such a product also adds entries under the UpperFilters or LowerFilters value in the registry, either by adding its own filter drivers or by removing the registry keys and values outlined in this article that begin with:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Hkey
when i get to the registry and locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE_, that'a all that it reads, and also when I open up the folder there are filter values at all. it reads,
Name Type Data
ab (Defualt) Reg_sz (value not set)
Would this have anything to do with what's going on? I tried the other application that was given to me and that did'nt correct the problem. Any idea?

you mean there are no plus signs next to the Hkey_Local_Machine key on the left side that allow you to navigate to th subkeys such as system?

plus signs
(oops) yes there are + signs next to the folder. I followed the manual steps to delete the upper filters and that did not work. The computer is telling me to go to the device manager, but all i get is a picture of the drive with a small yellow circle with an exclamation point inside?
