    Driver Update for Compaq DVD-ROM DVD-11

    I have 2 dvd drives a Compaq DVD-ROM dvd-116 and an HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-5163D USB Device.
    I rolled back Windows media player from version 11 to version 9. Thats when I noticed that both DVD's weren't working.
    The message I got is that "the driver is corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
    The driver is a microsoft driver version 5.1.2535.0 Date: 7/1/2001.
    I'm running windows XP Home Edition.
    I've spent 2 very frustrating days trying to find an updated driver.

    You won't find one... actually the problem is fixed by editing the registry. The instructions are here Yes I know it blames easy cd, but a number of things can cause this problem - rolling back WMP is obviously one of them!
