    Resolved [RESOLVED] Floppy Hell

When trying to access my floppy drive the computer freezes for about 5 mins and then I get an error message saying A:\ isn't accessible. Everything else works fine. My system is Cyrix 333 with 64mb ram and running Windows 98. Any ideas???

    Question

OK, I'll ask the first questions...

Does it do on all floppies or just one or two? If it's just one or two, try running ScanDisk on that floppy. Can you access it OK via DOS?

Check Device Manager for conflicts, errors, etc.

It is possible that the drive mech itself is going bad if all of the above checks out good.

Just a couple of suggestions...Good Luck!

Also make sure that the drive is plugged in.(both data and power cords) I have this prob when I forget one, or do the data one incorrectly. (i'm using an 8 yr old drive, it's not nearly as user friendly as the newer ones.)
