    can't get into bios

what can i do if my bios is password-proiected and i have no idea what it is. i've been told that there should be a jumper on the board somewhere that
i can reset bios values. i'm not sure how to
disconnect the battery and i have no manual for my PB120. Have any ideas? thanks, dave

U'll have to clear the CMOS RAM by a jumper or removing the battery onboard
Just open the casing and try to find the word (CMOS or CLRTC) and use the jumper near it

    Hello,
When you set a password into the CMOS set up it prevents other people from changing your settings or doing some harm to your system.
Usually there is a system and a supervisor password and it recorded into the CMOS Ram, so it will stay as long as your CMOS battery is alive (although some CMOS RAM are very slow to discharge).
    1) look for a "password clear jumper", put on electrostatic discharge protection (ESD), power down the PC and unplug it, open the case, set such jumper to "clear", boot the system, after it boots , power down and reset the jumper to its anterior position.
    2) if you can not find this jumper, try to make a forced configuration change, which in many cases it will generate an error and aloud you to enter into Setup, like after opening the case as above, you remove one of its SIMM and power up the Pc. Remember to reinstall that SIMM back in after power down the Pc.
    3) Look for a jumper that says "CMOS clear", then after you follow the precautions above, open the case, set it to "clear", boot the PC and after you receive a message that states that the CMOS is clear power down the Pc, reset the jumper, power on and enter setup, so you can reconfigure the Pc again - that is when most people regret never have writting its CMOS configuration before trouble finds them.
    4) in a last resort, take the precautions above, then remove the CMOS RAM battery, it should look like a silver coin, and wait from 30 to 45 min at least so the RAM will discharge itself - it can take a little more - plese do not short or jump the battery terminals together, use a resistor to do it instead. It may take days for it to clear.
Please post any problems you may have.
    Good luck,
    Mac.
