    Welcome to Windrivers Cookie Monster.

Glad to hear you checked the camera on another machine and it worked.

Code 10 errors are usually a power problem with the usb device. To start to help you, can you post your operating system and service pack level and whether all your windws updates are done and the make and model of your laptop.

In the meantime, do you have more than one bank of USB ports? Or is this using a pcmcia card?

Glad you sorted it out. Will it work if you update the "imaging thing" as well as the camera?

If you keep an eye on this post I'll have a link later for a download that diagnoses what works and doesn't work with your current webcam settings. It's great for troubleshooting quirks and other oddities with a cam.

OK found it, just run this little utility and it will tell you about your cam and what it likes and doesn't like.

Just an afterthought but since you are capable of a driver rollback try the new driver then run the diagnostic it might tell you what you have set wrong so you can use the newer driver. Just an idea.

The program is really simple and easy to use. All you need to do is unzip the file. If I recall it doesn't even need an install it just runs. It will bring up information about what version drivers and camera it is and it will tell you its compatibilities with resolutions and such. I used it about 4 months ago to figure out why my webcam would chronically freeze. I found out that I couldn't have certain settings on a specific desktop resolution (something the manufacturer neglected to state in their documents)
