When is SP1 being rolled out?

I saw a mention to Service Pack 1 for Vista either being in development or beta but I cannot find it now. I can find no reference to SP1 on the M$ website, does anyone know if and when it will be rolled out?

Angie, SP1 is in beta and it's not recommended for production machines or people who don't want to provide feedback on bugs they find or who don't have time to fix stuff....

The word on the street is that it will be released to market in early 2008. It rather depends on what the beta testers find and how long it takes to fix it.

I know i installed it on my home system last week, i've not encountered any major issues as of yet. Some eye candy got disabled, some other security settings got changed on me, but a few minutes of reconfiguring and i was good to go. However, i need to know what's going to happen with the SP's as i'm supporting xp/vista in a retail environment.

Though i know it's hypocritical to say "Do as i say, not as i do", I generaly recommend waiting 1 month after an SP release before installing it.

Got Vista running nicely now and I was curious about a service pack and I think it has moved from beta to RC 1 status according to the link provided by CCT
I may hold of on buying Vista 64 bit , I need this to address my 4 gigs of ram

Just kidding, I have 4 gigs and it makes a world o' difference. I have XP 32 and XP 64bit loaded on my dual boot machine, and the 32 bit side works fine only recognizing 3.5 gigs of it.

Hey Guts3d does your XP 64 show all 4 gigs of ram when you right click " My computer\properties " ?
Let me know I am just curious , I have read of a bios setting which is called address mapping above 4 gigs or something along that line, and it is set to off by default
I was told that you would need to enable it to get the full benefit, It has to do with how the system address's memory for the different components
Normally everything fits in the 4 gig space so when you drop 4 gigs of ram in there the system can only use 3.5 since the other memory addresses are used for your video card etc , Address remapping fixes this
I wonder how they get away with it on a server

Vista 64 has no issue seeing 4 gigs of ram. Rather its more of an issue with the bios and hardware and saying it can support 8 gigs of ram is not always a guarantee that it will see that at the bios level, Even with the bios updates in place for just that issue.
With mine I found that it needed an increase of voltage to the ram sticks to see and use them.
The Service pack is irrelevant to it.
