notebook 890/892 sound card es1371
The drivers that came with the notebook dont work but the system is reporting an unknown audion device. The chipset on the card says es1371 but the drivers on the disk are for es197_. can anyone advise as I would like to give it one more try before I pronounce the card as dead.

Did you try removing the drivers from Device Manager, restarting Windows, and letting Windows re-detect the sound hardware? That usually fixes driver problems...

Thank you for the reply. Yes i not only removed the drivers initially but I have also FDISK'd and reformatted the HDD. The sound card is detected and put into Other devices but refuses to acknowledge the drivers on the CDROM.
Still looking for help before I pronounce it to be Dead at the scene.

Download drivers for a Sound Blaster Ensoniq AudioPCI (ES1371) <a href="http://www.americas.creative.com/support/files/download.asp?Centric=15" target="_blank">here</a>. (you will need to select your OS from the drop down selection window)

Tried that site before but it still wont work - therefore I pronounce the card dead. All I need to do now is find a replacement and details on how to replace it.
Thanks everyone Roger
