Win 2000 driver support
I just recently installed win 2k and managed to get everything working except the integrated sound drivers on a shuttle ak 10 mobo. I downloaded the win 2k drivers from their website, and also downloaded the 9x/nt/me/2k/linux driver...durring the installation wizard with any of the drivers i get a error, data is invalid, and it quits the installer. I thought no prob. i dont plan on using this shuttle mobo much longer (saving up for a asus) and so i will buy a win 2k compatible sound card. I went out and purchased a sound blaster live value edition and installed it. Same error durring the install wizard. The win 2k troubleshooter wasnt much help, just told me some error that the drivers are not installed. I only tried the win2k drivers from the disk and the ones detected automatically by windows. If anyone out there knows how to fix this please, I'll try anything, I cant live without my mp3's lol.
Thank you

It sounds to me that you are attempting to use the actual install program that is included with the driver disks for the particular piece of hardware that you are attempting to use. Instead, go to device manager by Right-Clicking my computer and going to the hardware tab. Then click on the Device Manager button. When it comes up, since it is a plug and play card, it should show up with a yellow exclamation mark next to it and may say something to the extent of "Default PCI Multimedia Device" Right Click on the device and go to properties. Under the driver tab, press the button "Reinstall Driver" and browse to the appropriate location on the CD or in the drivers that you downloaded for the device. An typical location would be something to the extent of D:\Drivers\win2k or something like that. Best of luck.

Let me just go over what I have tried. I first tried running the drivers windows automatically found for the onboard, data invalid then the wizard goes bye bye. No prob, I have the mobo disk for the drivers I try running setup for the win 2k drivers for it, No Go. Ok try choosing the reinstall driver and point to the location of the appropriate .inf file. Did not work. Downloaded the drivers from shuttles website and try running the settup. Same "data invalid" message.(note each time I tried anything this same data is invalid screen is what came up, I will start to install the correct drivers. This comes up somewhere in the middle of it.{cant say when, goes bye quickley}). I then tried downloading the driver that supports all os of shuttle and running that. Nope, then I tried pointing to the downloads using the method U suggested. Nothing. Ok I've wasted too much time on the shuttle onboard and so I went out and purchased a SB Live. Same problems. I have also tried reinstalling the drivers after removing from safe mode...same problem, Both cards. I havent tried too much other than trying all .inf files it would pick up from pointing to correct location to see if I can get anything working. I just started with win 2000 so I don't know everything that has to be done to get it working, but I had it working with 98 and me. I believe it is something in the registry so I used system mech to remove invalid entries. Did not fix anything. I also downloaded dx 8.0a to see if that would help and then tried the process of renstalling drivers all over again. Still get data is invalid durring the install wizard righ after it starts installing the .inf files.
