Only Ie Connects To The Net
I'm having a weird problem with my system. I can't connect to the internet with any program eccepted IE. My anti virus can't update, my outlook express won't connect, same with mozzila firefox. I can connect with IE and only IE. I ran Hijackthis and it said there was a problem with winsock so I used winsockfix, but it didn't fix the problem. It's not the firewall even with it turned off everythings the same. What's going on and how can I fix it?

Surfer did you ever have Sygate firewall installed on your computer and then later remove it?

Exactly what firewall are you using at present that you turn off?
Have you tried using ping?
Start Run Command then Ping www.yahoo.com

I'm using the security suite offered by my ISP I think it is made by F-PROT. I was using AVG the free version and my firewall was Sygate. I was using ZoneAlarm a while ago but it was causing me problems so I switched to Sygate. I removed AVG & Sygate and then installed my ISP's suite.

Problem solved, it was the Sygate firewall. I thought I had uninstalled it but for some reason it was still running in the back round. I used a program called Revo and it removed all traces of Sygate and now everything works as it should.
