I am getting a lot of application error prompts.
one in particular is..
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This is accompanied by a second prompt that says..
The instruction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
If I click ok it disables access to my sound card and causes my “start” and “task bar” to turn a weird color.
Then my computer eventually freezes and the only way to restart it is to shut off the main power at the power strip then switch it back on and then power up the computer.
If I just push the error prompts to the side everything works fine..
When this all started my nvidia wan miniport IP drivers became corrupted (destroyed is more like it) and lost Internet connection!
The computer kept prompting me to insert the freedom miniport driver disk..
I never had a miniport driver disk!
I lost the IP number to connect to the cable modem and needed the driver disk to correct the network card drivers so the computer could connect to the modem and refresh the IP settings..
I spoke to my cable provider and when they tried to scan my configuration on their terminal at the cable company office they said they were getting a strange reading..
they said my computer was sending information that it was a Xerox machine!! And they said they had never seen that before!! (This is why I suspect a virus)..
I eventually bought a new network card with a driver disk and this solved the loss of the internet connection problem! (I am back on line although I do not know for how long..
On shut down I see the "so and so" program is not responding... End task
I see 3 such programs listed every time I shut down..
base 2 pane panel not responding end task..
nvidia twin view not responding end task..
and the dreaded pal start not responding end task ..
Just some info before getting to the tech part..
