[RESOLVED] Volume under real DOS very low
I just purchased a new mainboard, and it comes with AC '97 integrated audio with legacy audio SBpro compatibility support. The sound works fine in Windows 98SE, but under read mode DOS the volume levels are barely audible.
The appropriate BIOS settings have been made and the appropriate drivers specified in AUTOEXEC.BAT. There is nothing on either the mainboard's website or the sound chipset's website about this issue.
I have a feeling the problem has something to do with the default volume and mixer settings of the card under DOS, but I don't know how to change them. I've used proprietry SBpro software but they can't change the volume settings (but sure enough, they report the colume as being at minimum level). Neither is there any DOS based software at the manufacturer(s)'s websites that I can use.
I'm at my wits end. Please help.

Are you sure there isn't any DOS utility, that adjusts the volume under DOS Prompt?
Check for it and if so, install it.
