[RESOLVED] compaq presario 5186
I formatted my hard disk but forgot to put down the name of the sound card so I ripped open my computer but I still can't find the name of the sound card

oow yeah when i restart the computer it says new hardware found " pci multimedia audio device " does anyone please what i have to do to get my sound card running

Patrick,
Compaq is tricky in that they like to wipe all information from the hardware they stick in their systems.
Best thing to do is to either id the card via the chip by using the link via windrivers or going straight to Compaq.com and getting the manual for your particular system. The online manual is rather massive and will tell you everything you should know right now to configuration on the motherboard. This is different than the manual they provide when you purchase the system.
