Lost files on Hard Drive , how can i undelete/recover them ?
hi team , i am in a quandary that i think is unfixable.........basically i lost about 35Gig of DVD's on a Hard Drive hooked up to my PC via a IDE Enclosure.
What happened was while transferring some files to the IDE Enclosure my PC froze and the Hard Drive become Corrupted. After that i did a System Restore in XP and it wiped all the files on the HDD without my consent , after that i tried about 5 Undelete/Recovery apps to no avail so i reformatted and started again.
is there a way to get back my DVD's ? or am i stuffed ? ........they were Super Play and Super Battle DVD's i miss very much.
any help is appreciated

GetDataBack is a good program for data recovery but it's not free.
You also shouldn't use data recovery programs on the same drive that you're recovering from. It's best to slave the drive you're recovering data from and to transfer the files to a new drive.

You're welcome. Keep in mind also it may take a while for the recovery to find the files so you can transfer them.

hiya Niclo , i finished GetDataBack and unfortunately hasnt pulled the DVD files from the grave. I got another HDD to try but its a long shot if the files are on there i cant remember copying the files to it.
GetDataBack is definitely a great data recovery app but i think WinXP's System Restore up has buggered things up this time.
thanks for your tips Niclo youve been a great help

howdy CCT , thanks for your input i will try that app after a couple of other recover apps i have been suggested to try.
Basically what happened exactly is my PC froze while transferring files to a External IDE HDD Enclosure. When i rebooted about 1/3 of the files on the External HDD were corrupt , they couldnt be accessed and they were renamed like dhdrfhs.335. So i did a System Restore in XP and when i rebooted all of the corrupt files disappeared. They were not fixed somehow System Restore just wiped or deleted them all.
im a DVD buyer i have over 180 DVD's , but the DVD's i lost are ultra rare and most are not in production anymore.
aswell they were really entertaining which i watched quite often......
