Direct Sound Device

something is wrong w/ my sound. my computer cannot find a direct sound device. i have the latest version of DirectX, and a creative soundblaster audioPCI 64d sound card, w/ a 400mhz computer, 96mb of ram. i can hear windows default sounds, and can only play .wav files w/ sound recorder, and winamp. i have no audio on my .mov's and .avi's and stuff like that. i tried downloading windows media player, but that didn't work. pls e-mail me at P_S_P_@hotmail.com i am not a registered user, so i won't get an e-mail if you just reply. thanx
