    Unhappy Creative Video Driver problems

I own a Creative Labs 3D Blaster Annihilator Pro. It's a great card but lately I've been having problems with Creative's drivers. They don't just give you drivers, they give you all these programs with it.

In the beginning of the month I got FastTrax.exe which was supposed to have the latest drivers included. I ran the program because thats all you can do. I wanted to do a quick change driver update but you can't do that. It installed the new drivers and also installed a program called Display Director. It removed their blaster control tab from display properties.

Yesterday some even newer driver's were released so I got them. The file called tnt9x.exe I install it but now things get weird. Included with this (that you have to install), is a program called Display Center.
It's basically the same program as Display Director. This causes all sorts of conflicts.
Now my blaster control tab is back on display properties but it's just an empty window. I tried installing the blaster control program separetely and it didn't fix anything. To top it off, the new driver's I hoped to get didn't get installed!

Why does creative have all these different driver programs that conflict with each other? Shouldn't they just give us driver files and let us choose if we want to install these extra programs(especially if they conflict with each other)?

So if anyone can offer any help to this situation or could tell me if I might have done something wrong I would greatly appreciate.

I can suggest you just one thing: remove creative drivers and just install Nvidia detonators one. No problem with that! Only if you have an Athlon with a mobo that has amd chip, I suggest to use Creative Agp Wizard to enable Agp 2x.

    Question

Thanks for the reply. Last time I checked Nvidia's site they had driver's from May 31.
Are those updated and the date is wrong?

    Question

I have an athlon 600 with asus k7m mobo and annihilator pro ddr video card and 64 meg of ram on win 95.
the stuttering is amazing on all games including baldurs gate 1, age of empires 2, ceasar 3, fallout 2.
what do i need to do to get rid of stuttering?
will more ram do it? will win 98se do it?why does screen stutter when i scroll. i thought this system would burn through those old, low requirement games [low requirement on box]. i just got diablo 2 but have not installed it yet. i am scared to see how badly that game will chop along.
evolva demo sort of runs smooth with frequent hiccups when moving or turning - like it is loading the scene or something?

I think problem could be win 95 that has not a good support for Agp cards, or a bad driver installation.
Asus k7m has Amd-Agp controller, so you must install the correct driver BEFORE installing Nvidia one. You can download it at www.amd.com .
Another possible solution could be installing Creative Agp Wizard to set Agp properly. Try to set agp 2x and agp 1x and look at the differences in performance. (I have a Fic Sd-11 and all works fine with agp 2x)
I suggest also to set Agp aperture size to 32mb (half of the system ram).
I hope I could help you!
