Where can I find a driver for an Intel 28.8 DSVD modem? I'm told the modem was originally installed in an AST Advantage 9315 gaming computer. Intel has been no help.

Great question!

I have three of these modems, but the only drivers I have are for Win95. Unforetunately, they don't work on Win98, so the modems do me no good now that all of my computers are running either Win98 or NT.

Let me know if you find any drivers for 98.

Also, if you would like a copy of the Win95 drivers, let me know (email best) and I'll post them on my website or email them or something.

check out the following document from AST http://www.ari-service.com/bulletin/TB/1610TB.HTM
It explains about reinstalling the modem.

Then download this update driver from Sony
ftp://ftp.ita.sel.sony.com/ccpg/pc/v14a.exe

When you install the modem and Windows98 detects a PCI card choose next until it says not to install any drivers at this time. Run the v14a.exe file to extract it, then run install14.bat. Run setup and follow all the prompts using all the defaults. When it asks you to restart your computer choose yes and the modem(s) should be detected. After it is finished go to system properties and check the PCI card (it should have an exclamation mark on it). Go to it's properties and disable it. Restart Windows and you are set.

I have tried this sequence and the modem has been detected and installed under Windows98 and is working fine.

Good Luck
