I am having a hellish experience trying to make the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List work in my computer. I have an Intel PC Camera Pro Pack (USB camera with driver version 1.0.0.46). Microsoft's HCL says that you must get the driver version 1.0.0.46 to make the camera work with Windows 2000 RC2. I have the camera, and I have the driver.
So, I tell the computer to scan for new hardware. It identifies a new USB device and asks for a driver selection. I point it to the WIN98 directory on the Create and Share CD (which is supposed to contain a workable driver).
Then one of two things happen.
(1) The driver partially installs and then gives me the blue screen of death with the message that there is a datestamp error in USBCAMD.SYS, or
(2) It opens the icam4usb.inf file in the directory I selected and then presents me with an empty list of devices described in the .INF file.
Does anyone have an idea concerning how I can get Model CS430 to work in Windows 2000?
