I recently installed an Intel SR440BX motherboard with a Pentium III 450 Mhz Procesor. Everything was working well until I installed an Adaptec 2920 scsi card with a 2 GB Iomega JAZ drive. If a cartridge is inserted when the computer is turned on, after the Windows 98 initializes, the cartridge is readable, but if the cartridge is extracted and reinserted the computer hangs up for 3 minutes. After that time I can read the information. If I re-insert de cartridge again the computer hangs up completely and it's necesary to restart it.
I made some tests installing an Adaptec 2940 scsi card and the results were the same.
After all the tests, I reinstalled the operating system and tried again, but got the same result.
The Adaptec 2920 card and the JAZ drive were installed before in a DELL XPS 200S computer and were running fine. It seems that there is an incompatibility between the new INTEL SR440BX, the Pentium III 450MHz chip and the Adaptec SCSI 2920 card.
There is no Technical advise on the INTEL page for the above described case. Is there anybody out there who can help me?
