Hello Mandilas if you follow the next steps you will be successfull
1. Disconnect the scanner (power cord)
2. Download ISP_1212U_V1209.EXE from the agfa home page (SCANWISE Software) 3. Start the installation by click on ISP_1212U_V1209.EXE and stop when you are asked to select a language.
4. Do not select the language now and goto point 5 first (laeve the installation active)
5. Goto c:\winnt\temp and copy the content of this directory to another temp dir. Example C:\Agfa
6 Go back to the installation window and finish the installation. (select the required language and continue)
7 Connect the scanner and the USB automaticly detects the scanner. 8. Follow the instructions until the system ask for the file agusbti.dll 9. Change to the temp dir you created and give the following path: C:\Agfa\drivers\sti\ where agusbsti.dll is found
10 Press OK or Continue (I forgot) and finish the installation.
Start SCANWISE and .............. be happy (I am sure it works). I repeated my installation to verify my explanations.
Good luck R o l a n d

For SnapsScan 1236s users here is how to install scanner driver software in from win98 upgrade to win2000.
FIRST make sure win2000 detects th AHA-1505 scsi card, then do the following:
1) Delete contents of C:\Windows\Temp
2) Download ISP_1236S_V1209 from Agfa
2) Create a directory called C:\Agfa
3) Execute ISP_1236S_V1209: STOP at selecting
language
4) Goto C:\Windows\Temp
5) Copy contents to C:\Agfa
6) Goto "Device Manager"
7) "Update Driver" point path to C:\Agfa\
8) it will ask for dll point path C:\Agfa\Drivers\STI
9) finish install of scanwise
I hope this helps someone

Beta Drivers can be found at http://www.agfa.com/betasoftware/
It took a lot of fiddling around, but I got these to work in the end. I had problems with the parallel port. Agfa say your port should be set as EPP, but I couldn't get it to work. In the end I had to flash the bios on my Abit BH6 motherboard, then reset the parallel port to ECP+EPP and then everything worked. Hope this helps.
