OPTRA Rn+ Printing/Driver Issues

Basicly the setup we have is a Prosignia server running NT 4, service pack 3 with the Optra Rn+ on its parallel port.
The printer is an OPTRA Rn+ with a rear paper feeder, a front manual feed. An upper tray (about 250 sheets and a slot on lower tray holding about 500 sheets.
The printer is setup as a shared device.
There are about 3 workstations which are running Windows 95 and 14 workstations running Windows 98.
The workstations are connected to the server over 10/100 switched ethernet using TCP/IP.
Up until 2 weeks ago, more by like than anything else, the workstations were all Windows 95.
Over the past 2 years, by trying various cobinations of installing/removing/installing printer drivers the printing had worked for most of the machines but even then, one or 2 would occasionaly have printing problems. Though the drivers were never quite correct and printing operation was still tempremental at best.
Since we replaced 14 of the old Win95 machines with new PCs running Win98 and having reinstalled the printer we are getting random printing (to say the least) across the whole network.
Most of the time the printer will only print from the upper tray, ignoring the lower one.
Sometimes it prints ok, other times without anything having changed on the workstation, the printer will just stop printing from the lower tray, sometimes it will suddenly start asking for LEGAL paper in the lower tray and then just start working/printing again on the next attempt.
The original disks that came with the printer do not contain any reference to the Optra Rn+
The original supplier of the printer closed down about 2 years ago and we have been left high and dry with the printer and no-one to help us support it.
We have downloaded the latest drivers pack but are unable to actualy find the Optra RN+ listed.
Because of this we have tried the Optra R, R+, R Plus etc..... (What should we be using if this printer isnt listed?)
I have spent 15 hours over the past weekend trying to get this to work and am at my limit, the printer is coming very close from learning to fly.....
Please, please, please...
What is the correct driver and settings or combinations we should have on the Server and on the workstations for this combination to work?

PS: I dont consider myself a stupid person, I've been in IT support for 15 years. I have never come across a printer like this that is listed in none of the distributed drivers or which has been such pain in the backside to get setup properly.
