I see amd has made a patch for these faster processors for the oem versions of Windows 95. I guess Bill Gates strikes again. Does anyone have a solution to windows protection error for none oem versions of win95 and this processor other than feeding Bill Gates more money by buying the win98 op system. I'd go to Linux but have to many applications and data that I don't think would work on Linux.

Go to AMD.com, you will find the patch there. This is a know problem by AMD so they should have it. If not phone the hot line in uk... 01276 803100 (ask for the hotline and tell them what you need...)

hope that helps...

I had the same problem before upgrading to
98. I'll tell you something, though... when
I got the patch for Win95, the patch has to
be run in Win95- can't run in DOS. However,
if you have the same problems that I had,
Win95 woudln't start up in order to run the patch! I had to throw together a spare-parts computer, get 95 running on it, research what files it installed, run the patch, copy the files onto a floppy, and finally boot up in my normal pc in dos and copy the files manually. MS at it's best! Good luck!

Ouch!

I just pin the machine back to 300MHz and run the AMD patch, then switch it back to 400 and all is good.
Or else you can just keep on booting and selecting safe mode, as long as you have the patch handy on a disk. You'll get in after a few retries.
