I have a Socket 7 motherboard with a Cyrix 686MMX processor and on board VGA chipset. My operating system is Windows 95. I would like to add an Absolute Multimedia NVIDIA TNT2 M64 card to provide 3D Graphics Acceleration. I have put the card in a spare PCI slot. The bios has disabled the on board VGA. I loaded the NVIDIA Drivers supplied with the card and removed the existing drivers as instructed in the manual. The device information for the Display Adaptor indicates that the device is working. But when I try to change the monitor settings (resolution and colours), on restarting the machine to make the changes take effect, new hardware is auto-detected and Windows reloads the old drivers. The Monitor settings remain at lowest resolution and colour, and the Display Adapter shows as having a problem (code 24). Can anybody out there tell me if there is a compatibility problem or give any helpful advice.
