I am trying to install Windows 2000 beta (v2031) on a system with an S3 Trio 3D 2X card installed but the installation keeps failing because Win 2000 cannot load a video device driver.

Is there a beta Win2K driver available for this card? If not, does anybody know if there is a workaround?

Help would be much appreciated before I ditch the S3 card and buy one from a manufacturer that has a Win2K driver available.

Note Win 2K is released in February and most manufacturers now have drivers available

This may not be directly relevant, but I couldn't get the Trio 3D/2X driver to work at all under NT4.0, so maybe there is a problem with this driver anyway. Doesn't work on SMP kernels maybe?

Emm, I got a same problem for install W2K. My video card is "Speedstar A55", and W2K did not detect it. W2K simply selected the "Standard VGA" driver, and install was completed. After that, I tried many way and 2 kind of works were succeeded.

1. I installed Speedstar A55 driver for NT4.0 manually - press 'Have Disk' button. It worked.

2. I found Speedstar A55 driver for W2K in some HongKong site. It worked. I use this driver now.

Sorry, I don't remember the site. This driver is 'engineer version'. I think it is in the process of debugging. Or maybe it is "hacking version" of NT4.0 driver. If you want to get a this driver, find it out from WWW, or send a e-mail to me. (shcho@dialpad.com) I will reply it with driver.

But there is no certified or officially released W2K driver for Speedstar A55. I can't find it. If you find, please inform me.

Thanks.
