I have the "SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller", built in to my motherboard. It is enabled in my CMOS and recognized by Win98. The Device Manager says that it's working properly, but it does not reognize my web cam. I've purchased a PCI Plug-n-Play USB card "ADS Technologies" and when I plug my web cam in it gets recognized instantly. Is there a driver upgrade available that will let my "SiS 7001" recognize my web cam?

I'm trying to use this same device on Win95 OSR2.1, but I can't even get it to enable (it auto-detects and loads drivers OK, though).

If anybody has any ideas, I'm eager to listen. I planned to upgrade to Win98 as a last resort but, from the previous post, that sounds like it might not be such a good idea after all...

I hate to reply to my own messages, but for anyone who might still be trying to enable this device under Win95 (OSR2.1), I found the answer.

If you go to the SiS website, they say in their FAQ that there are no updates for USB support on Win95. After digging around, though, I found that there is an applicable update. If you go to:
http://www.sis.com.tw/driver/mb_utility.htm#utility

you'll find a utility called 'sisirq9x.exe'. That installs/fixes the PCI IRQ routing table miniport driver for the SiS 5503, 5513, 5571, 5598, and 5595 'South Bridge' chipsets.

Once the fix is installed and the machine rebooted, the USB root hub will auto-detect/install, and everything will be working correctly.

Having a similar problem with Win98 trying to get my Video Blaster WebCam ll (USB model) to work. Creative seems to have struck out with a fix. The suggestion is that a video fix is needed. I wonder if the Win95 file you mentioned is it? Any other ideas?
