I have a second system which has a SIS 5595 based board in it. I pulled out the two RAM chips in it earlier tonight, intending to replace it with a single one (PC100). After doing so, the PC will not start up. After turning it on, there is no display and it beeps once, followed by 6 beeps, then 2 and finally 1. This occurs whether I have the new RAM inside or any combinations of the old one. The only time the beep is not made is when I don't have any RAM inside the machine and then turn it on although again there is no display. Does this mean that I have damaged the board. Do the combinations of beeps indicate a specific problem?

Help would be appreciated ASAP as I need to use the system tomorrow (I have stuff on the HD that I need access to).

Thanks in advance,

J

I've had memory problems too, recently I tried to put another 32 MB PC100 SDRAM chip in my board, and it wouldn't reconginze it. I tried to take out my old 32 MB and just use the new one and it wouldn't work. Then I took out both and borrowed my friend's 64 MB and my computer wouldn't even turn on! Then I got another 32 MB of RAM and then it worked! I now have 64 MB of RAM.

Maybe it's the type of memory I don't know. Hope this helped (It probably didn't, sorry)
