your email was returned as unknown: here was my reply.
Thats is teh name of your SMC card, the official drivers are located on =
the windows 95/98 CD. I find that Windows NT detects it just fine and =
places it on the IRQ I want. Unfortunately in Windows 9.x you have no =
control. If your jumper inst set for the 1st jumper (Soft Configuration) =
it wont detect. There is an SMC driver that can be downloaded at =
ftp://smc.ni.net/downloads/Products/Utilities/EZStart%20for%20Ethernet/ =
This is the EZstart. If you start in DOS and config the card and then =
get into Windows 9.x and goto new hardware and let it detect the card, =
it should use the defaults you set in DOS with SMC EZstart.
I have a Creative Labs Banshee thats uses IRQ 10, unfortunately the card =
always defaults back to that and shuts down my accelerator. Supposedly =
if you start in safe mode, you can change the IRQ settings of the card =
itself. You cannot do so in standard operating mode. I am trying to find =
a work arround as of now, but if you need any other help I would be glad =
to assist you. I would also look to this page for extra troubleshooting =
of that card.
http://smc.com/smc/common/trouble.html
BTW: you cannot use the card at any IRQ less than 7 - 15. Its just that =
way. I hope this helps and keep me abreast on the situation. My network =
is powered by these cards and work great on NT. My gamining server which =
runs on 98 is still not on the network because of that small problem.
