I promise to be extremely impressed if anyone can help me with this one . . .
I'm trying, without much success, to set up a peer-to-peer network to share files between two PC's: one with Win95a loaded and another with Win95b. I have an SMC 8216-Ultra-Elite in each machine - both cards set up for irq=10, i/o=300, Mem=CC00. There are no conflicts and I've re-installed all the drivers (several times) AND Windows too (I've also tried several different setups (irq's etc.)) I've removed ALL network protocols and tried tried the Netbuei protocol alone as well as TCP/IP alone(along with the appropriate static IP addresses.)I cannot PING the other PC if I'm running TCP/IP.
Funny thing is I can get the cards to talk to each other when I use the SMC EZSTART DOS program. But the machines remain otherwise mute when I load Windows.
The PC's each see themselves under 'Network Neighbourhood ->Entire Network.' SOMETIMES, one of the PC's will see the other one for a few minutes, but when I click on its name I get an error telling me I've typed the name incorrectly.
Any ideas?
André
