Sony DVD DDU-1621 and Windows XP

Anyone else having trouble finding a driver or some way to make this new DVD-ROM work with Windows XP. Please let me know i'm not alone and if possible help me out. <br />If i play around with it for an hour or so i can get some titles to play but it is very flaky. Is it an incompatibliy with PowerDVD software that is provided with the drive? Any info would be helpful.

I have xp home edition installed and the sony ddu1621 seems to play well when I run it with windows meadia player.I installed power dvd 3.0 and the patch.you don't have all the fetures but it works.I have tryed to find drivers with no luck.

I have Win-XP pro and Sony 1621 dvd player does not play dvd with power dvd or win dvd software. The unit will work great in Win 98 & ME O/S. with same software. Funny thing about this is old Sony 1211 dvd works just fine in Win-XP. I have spent lots of time,since Oct. 25th., testing this and have come to the conclusion this must need a firmware update.Does anybody know how to get one from a website? Just for the record,I have contacted SONY tech/support and was told they don't deal with OEM units. BIG HELP! Also,nothing on windows update either.So much for upgrading your system before installing Win-XP.

Problem with Sony DDU-1621,does not play DVD in WIN.-XP. Same problem as posted,tried windows media player and still does not work as was posted earlier by another unfortunate buyer of this unit. I also have Sony DDU-1211 to test and works fine in XP. Lucky enough to have Win.-98 on other system to test out;just as Ken G. said,unit works great with WIN-DVD software in Win-9X O/S. Looks like this guy has spent some time testing this unit out, it sure saved me some wasted hours and guessing if unit was bad or what. Good Job! <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
