need drivers for CDU31A controller card for Win95

I have a Sony cd-rom "CDU31A" that has a controller card connected by a floppy style cable. I have installed the 173a drivers from Sony's site but when I boot, I am told that "no cd-rom found" "driver not installed". I go into Win95 and "add new hardware" and the only option is to load the controller. I do that and it still does not find the cd-rom. I used to have access to the cd-rom before a friend changed my old 540 meg HD for a 1.2 gig HD.
