Trident 9750 NT 4.0 SP5 Problem

I am having <FONT COLOR=RED>MAJOR</FONT> trouble installing my Trident 4MB AGP 9750 with NT 4.0 SP5. I have downloaded the latest drivers from http://www.trid.com/Drivers/Net9x50/NT40-9x5.exe
. I install the driver, then NT reboots, and I get to the Display Properties, Settings page to choose the Color Palette and Desktop Area information. This is where I have the problem. There is nothing to choose in the Color Palette area, and the Desktop Are dropdown box contains (0x1, 0x2, 0x3, and 0x4) as the options for the resolution. If I just click "OK", then I get an error writing to c:\winnt\system32\desk.cpl
. This can only be fixed if I change back to the original Standard VGA Diaplay Adapter.

Please help! I don't need anything special, just 256 Colors!

I have Windows NT SP4 and I have exactly the same problem you guys have.. I noticed the drivers on Trident's WEB page for NT 4.0 are for the PCI derivative of the 9750 card.. NOT the AGP version.. both the WIn96 and WIn98 drivers support both PCI and AGP... I don't think you're problem is specific to SP5.. rather the drivers are not for the AGP version of the card.

I know AGP drivers exist for NT 4.0 for the 9750 BUT they sure aren't available from the Trident WEB page.. if either of you have any luck locating these drivers I'd love a copy.. If I get to them first I'll be sure to drop you copies.. as long as you send me your email addresses..

I have the trident AGP 9750 running SP5 and have no trouble. So is probably not a driver or SP problem. I believe it has to do with a memory conflict. I also have win 95 as OS and there I have a conflict with the 82443 Intel AGP controller, where the PC hungs up.
Maybe there are some settings in the Bios like "AGP error Forward" that are causing the problem.
