question compaq 1277 - upgrade or sell

I have a laptop that I either want to sell, upgrade or trade in. it has 60 ram memory and only 721 mb hard drive space left - running windows xp.
how much memory could I expand do? may not be enough, and would you replace the hard drive. Can you replace the hard drive? how much, is it worth selling and buying a new laptop??

Nice little laptop - however, upgrading them can be fiddly and the parts are expensive.

XP on that is somewhat overkill.... in that the laptop has a 4 gig drive of which 3.5 gig is taken up by XP. XP loves ram, you have 64mb only - it is happier with a minimum of 256mb ram.

If you truly want a laptop to run XP, take xp off that, sell it with its original restore cds and buy something with a little more ooomph. If you have all the bits and the battery is good, it will fetch a good price (check ebay to see what they are going for).
