Fixing an old 4122 machine and none of the Modem drivers would work.I download from the Compaq site SP7604 & SP4492, plus a lot from other sources. The proceedure that worked for me was to remove the Modem board from machine, boot up and then shut down. Reinstall Modem board. Then when you boot again, your machine will take the new drivers.

It says it is for Win95 but should work fine for you in Win98 also.

You didn't say which version of Windows you're using.

Hi there DonJ and anyone else.

I have a Compaq Presario 1220 which I have loaded windows 98 onto but I can't get the video working better than 16 colors on a 640 x 480 pixal screen.

I downloaded the above mentioned neomagic driver and run the setup. Windows installed the new driver.

Everything worked OK except the video still the same.

Any ideas why?
Maybe I need to remove something first.

Your help appreciated.

I have laptop compaq armada 1540D....this is my problem.
do not open my laptop appear massage on the screen (162-system option not set , date and time not set) after that appear massage (power on: password)........please help me what can I do.....:confused:

Your problem sounds like the CMOS battery has gone bad; thus, it won't hold the BIOS config, date/time, etc.
