does anyone have one of these laptops and if so exactly what resolutions are they capable of displaying? i have been reading posts on this thing on various forums (while searching for drivers and such for the one i am working on) and there seems to be some indication that they can display more than the 600X800 abd 256 color maximum that i seem to be stuck with. if anyone happens to have one of these running at a higher resolution, could you please tell me what video adapter driver you are using? and what monitor driver as well? thanks a lot.

have you tried downloading the compaq driver? (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Armada/us/download/8476.html)

for the video that is the driver i am in fact allready using. since that driver lets me do 600X800 at 16bit on the pass through on my 19 inch moniter i am starting to think it's the moniter driver that windows is using for the laptop display thats the cause of it getting no better than the 256 colors at 600X800. well, that or perhaps the display itself simply cannot handle anything higher.

Have you tried changing to another of the windows monitor drivers?

Checked hp for suitable monitor drivers? NT/3.1 may well work here.

i have tried various monitor drivers, but when i let windows scan for itself it usually either chooses the driver i had last installed or goes for the standard windows default driver. i have no idea what driver it actually SHOULD be using and im hoping finding out the correct one will let me improve the vixdeo quality just a little bit.

You have to force windows to accept another driver.

try this one, its the compaq display driver (http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Armada/us/download/8224.html)

The driver I listed was for windows NT - not 98

Did you not read the page before downloading?
