I'm trying to run Linux 4.2 on a IBM Aptiva 2162S9C. But I can't figure out the correct setting for the video card I have the information but there is not a clear match. I'm getting a error "Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to server. I have tryed all kinds of configurations.

Linux 4.2 is pretty old, I first tryed R.H. 5.2, and I thought that was hard to configure. Anyway... the XWindows enviroment for linux takes two things into consideration. 1- is the type of chipset your video card has, 2- is the resolution and frequency of your monitor. This combination is refered in Linux as your "server". You can try to play around with the "Xconfigurator" from "root", and play with some of the generic settings until you find a combo that works good, or you can buy R.H. 7.0 Standard Workstation and it will be alot easier to configure. If you like the challenge, stick with what you have.
