can anyone please help me with what to do with my notebook's sound.there is no sound at all even after reloading the correct drivers.i have reloaded xp several times and reloaded multimedia as well. The sound drivers appear to be working perfect when you play a sound file but there will be no output from the speakers as well as the headphone jack.The volume icon shows volume is full blast.There are no yellow marks in the dev. manager.Compaq has provided me with drivers but they do not bring sound to my machine.The chipset is VIA based and its southbridge.I would also want to know if sharing IRQ can cause problems because IRQ 9 is being shared by 3 items,PCMCIA,Cyberblade VGA and sound.
