voodoo 3dfx 4500 PCI not working, any suggestions

Ive just installed a Voodoo 3dfx 4500 32 mb PCI into my PIII 700 with Win98(2ed)the hardware and the software seemed to install fine, but when i ran dxdiag i only have i mb of graphics memory. Any suggestions as to whats heppened welcome. Although it probebly not due to the original graphics card since the PC only had a little 3mb chipset.
