I am trying to install another cd-rom into my compaq. The motherboard has no more ports left open (IDE). How do i connect the CD-rom to the motherboard? Can I connect the first cd-rom and the second cd-rom together, like a splice, then connect them both to the motherboard with one cable? Please help!

You need to buy a new IDE cable with 3 connectors. One connects to your motherboard and the other 2 are for your cd-rom drives. The cd-rom drive that you attach to the connector on the end of the IDE cable will be your 'master' drive and the jumper on the back of the cd-rom drive needs to be set accordingly. The cd-rom drive that you attach to the middle connector will be your 'slave' drive and the jumper on that cd-rom also needs to be set accordingly. Then all you need to do is plug in the power and audio cables and you will be all set
