I am working on a Compaq presario 7471. And the customer installed a network card and when they did this the cmos battery fell out, They did not know what the battery went to so they thew it out. So now I need help on finding the proper voltage and or the model number for the battery.

I think a standard Cmos battery will work fine.
Well, you could go here to download your <a href="http://www.compaq.com/support/Techpubs/qrg/presario7400.html" target="_blank">Quick Reference Guide</a>. Under the section for Battery/Power Supply, it just lists the power supply..as a 145 watt supply.
The most common CMOS battery chemistries are Lithium, Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) and alkaline. They are usually somewhere in the 3 to 7.2 volt range and either solder onto the motherboard or plug in via a snap-in connector (depending upon the computer manufacturers design).

thanks for the help. The Cmos battery is the snap on type I was Thinking that it was a 3 Volt But I disided to see what you guys had to say. Thank for the information.
